Commercial Bank of Rwanda ( CBR) or Banque Commerciale du Rwanda (BCR) as widely called, is a commercial bank in Rwanda. The bank is one of the ten licensed commercial banks in the Republic of Rwanda and it has been operating since 1963. In the beginning the bank was owned by the Government of Rwanda but was privatized in 2004. As of April 2010, Actis Capital owns 80% and the Rwanda Government had 20% of BCR shares. Actis Capital is a private equity investment firm, headquartered in London, United Kingdom, specializing in investments in developing countries, whose investment portifolio is almost US$5 billion by April 2010.
